Vice President of R&D
Lead a multidisciplinary R&D organization developing connected products across hardware, embedded software, cloud platforms, and applications. Own engineering strategy, technical direction, quality, and delivery from concept through production.
Responsibilities
- Lead the R&D organization across software, embedded, and other technical disciplines, with responsibility for technology, engineering, quality, and delivery.
- Set and execute R&D strategy, technology roadmaps, and engineering methods in alignment with company and product goals.
- Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, system design, technical problem-solving, and code reviews.
- Lead complex development initiatives from concept to production, ensuring quality and predictable delivery.
- Partner with Product and senior leadership on product strategy, roadmaps, and technology priorities.
- Coordinate work across software, hardware, embedded, product, and QA teams.
- Build an engineering culture focused on technical excellence, ownership, collaboration, execution, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, develop, coach, and retain engineers, managers, and technical leaders.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of software or R&D engineering experience, including significant leadership of R&D organizations and complex product development.
- Recent hands-on software development experience, including architecture and code reviews.
- Strong knowledge of software architecture, system design, scalability, performance, and engineering practices.
- Experience across multiple connected-product layers, such as embedded or firmware, cloud services, backend systems, and web or mobile applications.
- Experience setting technology roadmaps and making architectural and technology decisions.
- Experience leading complex products from early development through production and scale.
- Ability to coach managers, senior engineers, and technical leaders.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
