Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a six-person team spanning hardware, embedded firmware, iOS, cloud backend, and web development.
- Own the technology and operations of a flagship connected consumer product.
- Define end-to-end system architecture and make technical trade-offs across hardware and software.
- Partner with product, industrial design, general management, and operations teams on roadmaps, timelines, and manufacturing readiness.
- Mentor engineers, lead architecture and code reviews, and improve development practices.
- Contribute hands-on to core components, approximately 30% of the role.
- Improve product reliability, cloud-to-device connectivity, firmware responsiveness, and consumer mobile experiences.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
- At least 3 years of engineering management experience leading software or multidisciplinary technical teams; exceptional team leads may be considered.
- Experience managing cross-functional engineering disciplines and working in a startup or scale-up.
- Expertise in IoT, connected devices, or firmware integration, alongside consumer electronics or high-volume mobile products.
- Strong hands-on Node.js backend development and architectural experience.
- Experience with SaaS platforms or high-scale cloud-connected systems.
- Strong ownership, leadership, and communication skills.
