Lead research and development strategy, systems engineering, innovation, and technical governance for an uncrewed aerial systems organization. The role participates in management forums and oversees complex, high-risk, and strategic development programs.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the organization’s management forum and strategy definition
- Plan long-term R&D activities based on organizational strategy, technology developments, and market needs
- Lead technology incubation and initial development planning with appropriate systems engineering practices
- Define technical baselines for pricing, proposal schedules, and complete development scopes
- Help launch selected projects, defining technical baselines, engineering risks, and organizational structures
- Monitor engineering management, planning, and development for selected high-risk, complex, and strategic projects
- Establish and manage red teams and internal review committees
- Improve systems engineering professionalism and practices across the organization
- Manage technical knowledge and patent registration
- Lead engineering and technology forums
- Transfer and preserve knowledge across projects and generations
- Develop technical capabilities, infrastructure, and future directions through planning and execution oversight
Requirements
- Academic degree in science or engineering
- At least 5 years of senior experience in systems engineering, development project management, R&D management, or management of a development organization
- In-depth knowledge of uncrewed aerial systems, including relevant technologies, products, and global companies
- Experience leading multidisciplinary processes across multiple stakeholders
- Knowledge of project management and advanced technologies
- Proven experience leading R&D and innovation initiatives
- Experience leading and mentoring employees in systems engineering and complex technical subjects
- Experience developing scientific and technical personnel
