Lead propulsion projects within a missile and space systems organization, overseeing engine development, suppliers, system engineering activities, testing, and multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage a key subcontractor responsible for engine development
- Define requirements and support the development process
- Lead development reviews with the manufacturer, customers, and plant management
- Participate in the project’s system engineering activities
- Lead semi-system-level engine firing tests
- Manage engineers from multiple disciplines in a matrix structure
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, materials engineering, or chemistry
- Professional experience in propulsion or engines
- At least five years of direct or matrix management experience
- Experience working with and managing subcontractors
Nice to have
- Experience developing solid- or liquid-propellant engines
- Understanding of engine development processes
