Lead a multidisciplinary engineering team through the end-to-end development and integration of complex hardware-based systems, coordinating hardware, RF, firmware, software, and mechanical disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Manage and lead a multidisciplinary engineering team, including mechanical, hardware, firmware, and RF engineers.
- Lead end-to-end product development, including system architecture, technical oversight, prototyping, and design verification and validation.
- Coordinate development engineers, Systems Engineering, and Project Managers.
- Define engineering priorities, allocate tasks, establish development processes, and set project milestones and deliverables.
- Introduce development tools, methodologies, and emerging technologies.
- Establish processes for internal design reviews, including PDR and CDR.
- Recruit, mentor, evaluate, and support the professional development of engineers.
- Conduct status meetings, management reviews, and project progress meetings.
- Prepare technical RFP responses, including proposals, effort estimates, and cost evaluations.
- Provide technical support for internal engineering challenges and customer-facing issues.
- Lead internal and customer design reviews.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of hands-on hardware development and board design experience as a hardware design or firmware engineer.
- At least 4 years of experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams of five or more engineers.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional engineering teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience working directly with customers.
Nice to have
- Experience with technical cost estimates and pricing.
- Experience writing technical proposals for competitive RFPs.
- Background in microwave communications, telemetry systems, or microwave-frequency RF engineering.
