Responsibilities
- Define and own the multi-year target architecture across the product portfolio
- Set strategies for cloud, on-premise, private cloud, SaaS, shared platforms, and services
- Establish reference architectures for tenancy, configuration, releases, upgrades, and deployment consistency
- Advise executives and architects on modernization, build-versus-buy decisions, and technology investments
- Define architectural requirements and guardrails for security, compliance, availability, disaster recovery, performance, and observability
- Lead architecture governance through standards, decision records, review processes, and technology evaluation
- Select core technologies, platforms, and strategic vendors
- Mentor architects and senior engineers and raise architectural capability across teams
- Build consensus across product, engineering, security, operations, and commercial stakeholders
- Represent the technical vision with customers, partners, prospects, and due-diligence teams
Requirements
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, including sustained senior architecture experience
- Significant experience as a principal architect, chief architect, or equivalent
- Ownership of enterprise-grade products delivered across on-premise and cloud or SaaS deployment models
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, multi-tenancy, data architecture, and API or integration design
- Experience with at least one major public cloud and with containerization and orchestration such as Kubernetes
- Strong knowledge of security and resilience engineering for sensitive, high-stakes systems
- Experience working in regulated environments, preferably financial services
- Ability to influence senior engineers, product leaders, and executives without direct authority
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, from executive strategy to technical detail
Nice to have
- Experience in fintech, banking, payments, capital markets, or financial crime and compliance
- Experience modernizing legacy on-premise products toward cloud and SaaS
- Knowledge of multi-region data residency, sovereignty, and localization requirements
- Experience with FinOps and cloud cost governance at scale
- Experience with SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, or comparable security frameworks
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent practical experience
