Lead a team of 5+ backend developers to build and scale an AI-powered platform for detecting online disinformation. Drive architectural decisions, champion engineering excellence, and implement AI-assisted development workflows. Requires deep Python expertise, experience with cloud infrastructure, and a passion for mentoring.
Responsibilities
- Drive strategic impact by owning the backend roadmap and technical execution.
- Lead and mentor a team of 5+ backend developers, fostering growth and high engineering standards.
- Architect and evolve high-scale systems to process massive volumes of data in real time.
- Oversee the development lifecycle, set code quality best practices, and lead architectural and code reviews.
- Champion AI-first engineering by integrating AI coding tools and validating outputs to ensure system stability.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience directly leading a team of at least 3 backend developers.
- Proven passion for mentoring and advancing the organization beyond task management.
- Strong hands-on fluency in designing and scaling backend architectures for complex, data-heavy projects.
- Full proficiency and extensive hands-on experience in Python.
- 6+ years of overall development experience with deep proficiency in OOP, clean code, and TDD.
- Advanced database proficiency (MongoDB strongly preferred) and experience with message queues.
- Extensive experience working with live, high-scale production environments.
- Proficiency in designing and managing AI-assisted coding workflows, with a focus on validation and troubleshooting.
Nice to have
- Experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
- Proficiency in AWS or overall DevOps practices.
