Senior Software Configuration Management Engineer
Lead large-scale SCM infrastructure, automation, and reliability initiatives across a global GitLab environment supporting thousands of engineers and extensive repositories.
Responsibilities
- Own the application, operating system, and server hardware components of the SCM environment
- Design and develop automation tools and processes for large-scale SCM administration
- Create solutions that improve infrastructure reliability and performance
- Use orchestration tools to deploy improvements across hundreds of systems worldwide
- Lead or contribute to GitLab upgrades, migrations, and architectural reviews
- Prepare design documentation, conduct root cause analysis, and implement systemic fixes
- Evaluate technology alternatives, define solutions, coordinate schedules, and lead ongoing enhancements and support
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or equivalent experience
- At least 5 years of professional experience
- Deep understanding of SCM processes and large-scale, multi-site GitLab environments
- Experience configuring and deploying continuous integration and continuous deployment systems
- Strong Python, Ruby, or Perl scripting and object-oriented programming skills
- Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
- DevOps or Linux system administration experience
- Strong automation and software engineering practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Nice to have
- Experience with Perforce, Subversion, or ClearCase
- Master’s degree in computer science or a related field
- Perl, Ruby, Ansible, Puppet, PostgreSQL, and preferred Linux distribution experience
