DevOps Manager
Lead and grow a DevOps team while remaining hands-on in platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, and reliability for a healthcare company.
Responsibilities
- Lead, hire, coach, and support DevOps engineers, including performance management and career development.
- Contribute directly to coding, platform architecture, and infrastructure decisions.
- Set platform architecture direction and align decisions across engineering teams.
- Mentor engineers through pair programming, code reviews, and technical guidance.
- Define reliability standards, establish SLOs, lead blameless postmortems, and drive systemic improvements.
- Manage Kubernetes GKE clusters and control-plane primitives; own infrastructure-as-code standards using Terraform and Helm.
- Promote GitOps practices and improve delivery experiences for engineering teams.
- Build and maintain observability capabilities, including structured logging, metrics pipelines, alerting, and SLO tracking.
- Support data infrastructure services, including data pipelines and embedding stores.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or infrastructure roles.
- 5+ years leading DevOps teams, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development.
- Strong Kubernetes expertise, including cluster administration, operators, admission controllers, and networking.
- Experience building developer tooling or internal platforms, such as CLIs, service catalogs, or self-service portals.
- Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform and Helm, and GitOps experience with ArgoCD or Flux.
- Deep understanding of CI/CD systems and designing pipelines as platform primitives.
- Proficiency with GCP services, including GKE, Cloud Run, Vertex AI, IAM, VPC, and Secret Manager.
- Software engineering skills in Go, Python, or TypeScript, including writing production-quality code.
Nice to have
- Experience in healthcare or a regulated environment, including HIPAA or SOC 2.
- Experience leading on-call operations and acting as incident commander during production events.
