Build the distributed backend platform powering a high-scale observability and prediction service. The role covers telemetry processing, data infrastructure, resilience, performance, and deployment across SaaS and customer-managed environments.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement high-scale services for ingesting, normalizing, enriching, and routing continuous telemetry streams.
- Own throughput, back-pressure, concurrency, and horizontal scalability.
- Design storage and query layers for large datasets, including data models, retention, cardinality, cost, latency, and APIs.
- Build systems that tolerate partial failures, restarts, lost state, and configuration errors without silent failures.
- Own packaging, configuration, upgrades, backup and restore, and deployment to customer-controlled environments.
- Profile systems under realistic load, resolve bottlenecks, and provide capacity and scaling guidance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience building production backend systems.
- Strong proficiency in Go, C++, Rust, or Python, with solid concurrency, memory, and performance fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience designing and operating distributed systems.
- Experience with streaming or messaging systems, databases, or high-throughput data pipelines.
- Ability to work across languages in a polyglot codebase.
Nice to have
- Experience shipping software that customers install and operate themselves, including versioning, compatibility, upgrades, and debugging in uncontrolled environments.
- Depth in large-scale data systems.
- Networking, datacenter infrastructure, telemetry, monitoring, or observability experience.
- Strong full-stack systems perspective across networking, distributed processing, and cluster infrastructure.
