Staff Product Designer, AI Risk Operations
Own the end-to-end design experience for an internal risk operations platform used by analysts across payments, payroll, banking, lending, compliance, and onboarding. Set design strategy across multiple teams as AI agents become central to case workflows.
Responsibilities
- Set design vision, strategy, frameworks, and principles for a complex multi-team domain
- Design end-to-end experiences for AI-supported risk case workflows, including analyst and agent collaboration
- Make automated reasoning understandable and enable users to accept, override, or escalate machine decisions
- Create reusable platform capabilities and maintain consistent patterns and mental models across teams
- Develop working prototypes using AI-assisted tools to test concepts quickly
- Conduct regular user research and use findings to guide product decisions
- Connect design outcomes to operational metrics and business goals
- Present design rationale to senior leadership and influence cross-functional partners
- Lead experience reviews and craft forums, mentor designers, and raise design quality across product and engineering teams
Requirements
- At least 5 years of product or interaction design experience, with a portfolio demonstrating end-to-end ownership of complex initiatives at scale
- Strong interaction, visual design, and prototyping skills, with sound judgment about when to follow or extend a design system
- Experience designing complex, data-dense tools for expert users, such as internal platforms, operations consoles, case-management tools, or agent workspaces
- Demonstrated ability to design trustworthy AI experiences, including explainability, confidence, human oversight, and graceful failure
- Advanced Figma prototyping skills, experience with AI-assisted design tools, and enough front-end coding ability to build and ship working prototypes
- Experience creating reusable platform capabilities for other teams
- Expertise in user-centered design methods and ability to coach partners in their use
- Ability to interpret operational metrics, define success criteria, and use quantitative and qualitative evidence to guide strategy
- Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills, including the ability to influence senior leaders without formal authority
- Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, Human Factors, or Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
Nice to have
- Experience in risk, fraud, trust and safety, compliance, or financial services operations
- Experience designing agentic or LLM-based interfaces
- Familiarity with regulated environments, audit requirements, and identity verification
- Service design experience across customer-facing and agent-facing parts of a journey
- Experience mentoring designers or leading design craft forums
