Senior Product Design Engineer
Own product experiences from concept through production, combining product design craft with frontend engineering. Build accessible, production-ready components and evolve a shared design system in a remote-first, asynchronous environment.
Responsibilities
- Own core product experiences, including booking flows, scheduling features, and team and enterprise experiences, from concept through production
- Translate product problems and hypotheses into designs, prototypes, and production-ready frontend components
- Build and test prototypes with AI-assisted development tools to explore ideas and answer product and design questions
- Create components with complete interaction states, correct semantics, accessibility, and production-quality implementation
- Design, engineer, and maintain custom components and primitives rather than relying on generic third-party UI libraries
- Audit and improve the shared component library by refining patterns, identifying gaps, and contributing reusable components
- Maintain consistency across design tokens, spacing, states, dark mode, motion, and interaction patterns
- Use motion and animation thoughtfully to clarify interactions
- Frame hypotheses, define success criteria, support implementation, and evaluate outcomes
- Refine empty states, error messages, loading behavior, transitions, and other interaction details
- Collaborate with product and design leadership, share work early, and incorporate feedback and constraints
- Document design decisions through written materials, prototypes, and recorded walkthroughs
Requirements
- Experience as a product designer who has developed strong design-engineering skills, owning complex product areas from definition through launch and iteration
- Strong product design craft and frontend skills in HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and React
- Ability to turn concepts into polished, working implementations independently
- Experience designing and engineering custom UI components and primitives
- Expertise in headless primitive composition; experience with Base UI, Radix, or similar technologies
- Understanding of motion design, including timing, easing, and choreography
- Daily use of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, v0, or comparable tools
- Familiarity with web standards and browser-native primitives
- Experience building and maintaining design systems, including reusable primitives, components, and product-specific patterns
- Accessibility expertise covering WCAG, ARIA, assistive technologies, keyboard interaction, and focus management
- Ability to understand APIs, data models, application state, and technical constraints
- Clear written communication and ability to document work effectively for asynchronous collaboration
Nice to have
- Contributions to open-source projects or public side projects demonstrating design and engineering work
- Experience with scheduling, calendaring, time zones, or recurrence rules
- Familiarity with locale- and time-aware web APIs such as Intl.DateTimeFormat
Benefits
- Competitive annual salary of $100,000–$150,000, regardless of location
- Equity included in the compensation package
- Fully remote work from anywhere in the world
- Flexible async-first schedule without unnecessary meetings or daily standups
- 30 paid out-of-office days per year
- Annual team retreats
- Autonomy and flexibility to accommodate personal and family needs
