Lead U.S. import and trade compliance activities, including CBP matters, UFLPA due diligence, supplier traceability, enforcement responses, and internal compliance programs for an automotive manufacturing company.
Responsibilities
- Oversee compliance with CBP import regulations covering classification, valuation, country of origin, and recordkeeping
- Lead UFLPA risk assessments, supplier due diligence, and supply-chain traceability activities
- Prepare and submit UFLPA rebuttal packages and supporting documentation to CBP
- Respond to CBP inquiries, audits, detentions, and Withhold Release Orders
- Act as the primary contact for CBP, customs brokers, outside counsel, and internal stakeholders
- Monitor and interpret changes in customs, forced labor, and trade enforcement regulations
- Develop and maintain trade compliance policies, procedures, and training
- Conduct internal audits and gap assessments to identify and mitigate compliance risks
- Support supplier onboarding and monitoring for forced labor and import compliance
- Provide guidance and training to sourcing, logistics, legal, and procurement teams
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in international trade, supply chain, business, law, or a related field
- At least 8 years of experience in trade compliance, customs compliance, or import operations
- Hands-on experience with CBP audits, detentions, or enforcement actions
- Knowledge of UFLPA, forced labor regulations, and Withhold Release Order processes
- Knowledge of bonded warehousing or customs broker operations
- Strong understanding of global supply chains and traceability requirements
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills
Nice to have
- Former experience with CBP, DHS, or another trade enforcement agency
- Licensed Customs Broker or professional trade compliance certification
- Experience managing third-party audits and supplier verification programs
- Familiarity with CBP systems and import compliance software
- Experience in industries with elevated UFLPA risk
- Mandarin Chinese proficiency
