Senior Software Engineering Lead – Database Security

Lead a team of 3–5 software engineers while remaining hands-on in the architecture and development of database security products for enterprise customers.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of 3–5 software engineers.
- Define software architecture, technical strategy, and development direction for database security products.
- Design and develop cybersecurity and data security solutions for enterprise environments.
- Lead security architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and code reviews.
- Translate complex security requirements and research concepts into scalable software solutions.
- Drive secure development practices across architecture, design, implementation, and deployment.
- Resolve complex challenges involving security, reliability, scalability, and performance.
- Collaborate with security researchers, product management, and engineering teams.
- Participate in customer-facing technical discussions and occasional international travel.
- Contribute hands-on to critical software components and technical decisions.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software development experience.
- Experience as a technical lead, senior software engineer, or in an equivalent technical leadership role.
- Strong expertise in cybersecurity, data security, or security software development.
- Experience conducting cybersecurity research and developing security technologies.
- Strong software architecture and system design skills.
- Extensive hands-on C/C++ development experience on Linux.
- Experience designing and developing complex enterprise software systems.
- Strong understanding of secure software development methodologies and security-focused system design.
- Ability to analyze complex security problems and develop practical engineering solutions.
- Excellent technical leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- B.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Ability and willingness to travel occasionally.
Nice to have
- Experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL.
- Knowledge of database security, including encryption, auditing, access control, authentication, authorization, and data protection.
- Background in security research, vulnerability analysis, threat modeling, or security architecture.
- Experience with attack-surface analysis and security mechanisms for complex software systems.
- Knowledge of operating-system security, process isolation, privilege management, memory protection, and Linux security mechanisms.
- Familiarity with cryptography and secure communication protocols.
- Experience with vulnerability research, reverse engineering, binary analysis, fuzzing, or security testing.
- Experience developing security-sensitive enterprise software, infrastructure products, or low-level components.
- Understanding of cloud security and enterprise security architectures.
- Familiarity with NIST, ISO 27001, CIS, OWASP, or similar security frameworks.
- M.Sc. in a relevant field.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
