Senior ATE Software Engineer
Build and deploy automated manufacturing test platforms for advanced telecom, switching, and optical networking hardware. The role connects hardware and firmware R&D with global high-volume manufacturing operations and includes occasional international travel.
Responsibilities
- Design and productize modular board-level and system-level manufacturing test frameworks.
- Consolidate and refactor R&D diagnostics, validation scripts, and firmware tools into a maintainable test execution platform.
- Integrate AI-assisted workflows for code conversion, test synthesis, edge-case validation, and software resilience.
- Deploy test stations and fixtures to global contract manufacturing lines and stabilize them during new-product introduction and ramp-up.
- Investigate test failures using logs, telemetry, and pattern analysis, then implement preventive hardware or software fixes.
- Maintain production test software, resolve defects, and optimize station cycle time, yield, and test stability.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and validation teams to define test specifications and improve design for testability.
- Integrate automated test sequences with manufacturing execution, quality, serialization, and centralized logging systems.
- Develop log-parsing, visualization, and diagnostic analytics tools for debugging and production optimization.
- Maintain test coverage matrices, operating procedures, and failure-analysis documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, software engineering, computer science, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of hands-on ATE software development and production test engineering for complex telecom, networking, or optical hardware.
- Advanced daily use of AI-assisted engineering tools and coding agents for refactoring, test generation, debugging, and code-quality improvement.
- Strong Python and Linux development skills.
- Practical experience with C#/.NET, Visual Studio, VB, or ATEasy test sequencers.
- Experience deploying, commissioning, and stabilizing ATE test benches at overseas EMS or contract manufacturing facilities.
- Knowledge of digital and communications protocols including PCIe, I2C, SPI, MDIO, UART, and Ethernet.
- Experience diagnosing issues across hardware, firmware, test software, fixtures, and cabling.
- Experience integrating ATE tools with MES, QMS, and shop-floor control systems for serialization, routing, and quality-data logging.
- Strong English communication skills and experience writing test procedures, SOPs, and root-cause reports.
Nice to have
- Experience with high-density Ethernet switches and data center networking.
- Experience testing optical transceivers and SerDes interfaces.
- Knowledge of SerDes configuration, link tuning, and signal integrity validation.
- Experience building AI/ML-based log analysis, anomaly detection, or predictive yield analytics.
- Experience integrating JTAG or Boundary Scan tools into manufacturing workflows.
- Familiarity with SQL, data analytics, and statistical process control for production yield monitoring.
