Join a mobile engineering team building production commerce and payment applications with Kotlin Multiplatform. The role focuses on shared architecture, Android development, offline-first capabilities, real-time systems, and integrations with payment and retail hardware.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop production applications with Kotlin Multiplatform
- Own and evolve shared KMP architecture across the product
- Build reusable modules for business logic, networking, persistence, authentication, state management, synchronization, offline operation, error handling, and observability
- Define boundaries between shared KMP code and native platform implementations
- Develop Android and other platform-specific integrations
- Build user interfaces with Jetpack Compose and Compose Multiplatform
- Integrate applications with payment terminals, printers, scanners, vending machines, and other hardware
- Implement Bluetooth, USB, Serial, and other hardware communication
- Design offline-first and synchronization mechanisms for unreliable connectivity
- Build real-time experiences connected to cloud and event-driven backend systems
- Optimize code for performance, stability, and reliability
- Establish reusable KMP libraries and engineering patterns
- Debug issues across shared code, native code, networking, and hardware
- Participate in architecture and technical design decisions
Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional software or mobile development experience
- Strong Kotlin and Kotlin Multiplatform experience
- Experience designing and maintaining shared code across platforms
- Understanding of modular architecture and separation of shared and platform-specific code
- Understanding of asynchronous programming and concurrency
- Experience with Kotlin Coroutines and Flow
- Experience with REST APIs and networking
- Experience with local persistence technologies such as SQLite or Room
- Experience with clean architecture and scalable application design
- Strong Android development experience
- Experience with Jetpack Compose
- Ability to debug complex production issues and make pragmatic architectural decisions
- Experience with Git and production software development

- Compose Multiplatform experience
- Kotlin Multiplatform development for both Android and iOS
- Experience building reusable KMP libraries or SDKs
- KMP networking and persistence experience
- Experience with expect/actual or similar platform-specific patterns
- POS or payment application experience

- Bluetooth, USB, or Serial communication experience
