Android Engineering Lead, Core Product
Lead Android feature development and technical direction for a distributed team building a product used by millions. The role combines hands-on engineering, architecture, reliability, and product-focused collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Own Android features end to end, working with Product and Design to define, build, test, and release them.
- Contribute technical leadership, architectural direction, and product-focused decisions for the Android team.
- Monitor and improve feature reliability, identify technical risks, and resolve critical incidents.
- Collaborate across Product, Design, Engineering, and QA to align technical solutions with user needs.
- Review pull requests and support engineering quality through constructive feedback.
- Manage feature releases and provide nightly builds to QA.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including significant Android application development.
- Strong knowledge of Android components and experience building production-quality applications.
- Hands-on expertise with Kotlin, Coroutines, Flow, Jetpack Navigation, Dagger 2, Room, Jetpack Compose, custom views, Canvas, and Paint.
- Understanding of software architecture and patterns, especially MVVM and Clean Architecture; experience with background and music-player services, Android animations, and JUnit.
- Ability to design and implement automated tests that support reliability and maintainability.
- Product design intuition, user empathy, and a proactive approach to improving applications and codebases.
Nice to have
- Contributions to Android open-source projects.
- Familiarity with iOS, web, or Node.js development.
