Principal Full-Stack Software Engineer
Design, prototype, build, and evolve AI-enabled applications for pharmaceutical research and development. Own solutions from rapid experimentation through secure, scalable, production-grade deployment while collaborating with scientists, AI engineers, UX specialists, business stakeholders, and IT.
Responsibilities
- Design and prototype AI-enabled software applications for scientific and business needs
- Develop backend services, APIs, frontend components, data-access layers, workflow logic, and state-management mechanisms
- Integrate large language models, agentic workflows, analytical models, scientific tools, enterprise services, and data sources
- Evolve successful prototypes into robust, maintainable, secure, scalable applications
- Own application engineering across design, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement
- Apply modular design, automated testing, version control, code review, CI/CD, containerization, logging, monitoring, and documentation
- Strengthen application security, performance, observability, error handling, auditability, and maintainability
- Design reliable applications that handle unpredictable AI models, tools, and external services
- Collaborate with architecture, infrastructure, cybersecurity, platform, AI, machine learning, UX, and business teams
- Promote reusable software components and application patterns across use cases
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or a related technical discipline
- At least 5 years of relevant full-stack or backend software engineering experience
- Strong backend development expertise, including APIs, databases, service-oriented architectures, and enterprise integration
- Hands-on experience with modern frontend technologies and complete user-facing applications
- Strong Python programming experience
- Experience integrating data sources, external services, analytical models, AI systems, or enterprise applications
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, data modeling, workflow state, caching, asynchronous processing, and event-driven patterns
- Experience with automated testing, version control, code review, CI/CD, containerization, observability, and cloud deployment
- Understanding of authentication, authorization, secure API design, secrets management, data protection, and auditability
- Experience designing resilient applications with error handling, retries, fallbacks, and monitoring
- Ability to integrate probabilistic and nondeterministic AI components into reliable applications
- Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
