A remote-first online protection company is hiring a senior engineer to diagnose and resolve website compatibility issues across its browsers on desktop and mobile platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Own web compatibility issue triage and diagnose whether breakage stems from a website, browser, or privacy protection
  • Debug third-party code and lead response when major websites break
  • Develop and ship durable fixes across desktop and mobile platforms
  • Reverse-engineer website detection of privacy protections and build countermeasures
  • Shim browser APIs to support different browser engines and system webviews
  • Build automated agent pipelines to reproduce and triage reported website breakage

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience building and debugging complex web applications with vanilla JavaScript
  • Detailed knowledge of web standards, web components, and browser APIs
  • Ability to reverse-engineer obfuscated third-party code and reduce issues to minimal test cases
  • Experience triaging issues, leading incident response, and communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to lead complex, ambiguous projects with little oversight
  • Successful candidates must pass a background check

Nice to have

  • Experience with Swift, Kotlin, C#, C++, or Python
  • Experience shipping native or desktop client code
  • Interest in building automated and agentic tools
