Senior Backend Engineer – Agent Experience

Join a high-ownership R&D team building reliable APIs, authentication, developer tools, and backend infrastructure for AI agents and machine-driven media workflows.
Responsibilities
- Build agent-facing account provisioning, machine-to-machine authentication, scoped credentials, and identity and attribution capabilities.
- Own Model Context Protocol servers and an agent-first CLI with token-efficient schemas, machine-parseable output, and actionable failures.
- Improve the reliability of upload and core media operations for non-human callers.
- Develop instrumentation, signals, and attribution to measure agent success.
- Work across Node.js/TypeScript agent tooling and Ruby/Rails and Go core backend services.
- Prototype, deploy, measure, and iterate while collaborating with Product, Ecosystem, and Discoverability teams.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience building and operating production APIs, SDKs, and backend systems at scale.
- Strong Node.js and TypeScript skills, with experience in or ability to quickly learn Ruby/Rails and/or Go.
- Deep knowledge of API and protocol design, including OAuth, API keys, scoped permissions, versioning, idempotency, and rate limiting.
- Experience with distributed systems and cloud platforms such as AWS or equivalent.
- Curiosity about AI agents, LLMs, and their impact on software development and operations.
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in ambiguous environments.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with MCP, LLM tool or function calling, or AI- and agent-native products.
- Experience building SDKs, CLIs, or developer tools used by engineers.
- Background in media, imaging, or video processing and delivery.
- Open-source contributions to agent or developer-tooling ecosystems.
