Junior Software Engineer – PET Data Acquisition

Develop and optimize a distributed, real-time C++ data acquisition platform for PET/CT imaging systems. The role focuses on Linux system programming, high-throughput processing, and reliable integration with detector hardware and clinical applications.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop data acquisition features from UDP capture and event processing through service layers and client APIs
- Optimize performance-critical code using low-contention data structures, thread affinity, NUMA optimization, and zero-copy buffers
- Maintain deterministic real-time execution in a distributed C++ system
- Enhance inter-process communication through shared memory, message queues, and service interfaces
- Use SQL-based persistence for configuration, metadata, and runtime state
- Integrate detector and system components with hardware, physics, and systems teams
- Develop unit and integration tests and participate in code and design reviews
- Investigate cross-process issues with tools such as gdb, perf, tcpdump, and strace
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- At least 4 years of C++ development experience on Linux
- Experience with modern C++ such as C++14 or C++17
- Strong knowledge of multithreaded and multiprocess systems
- Understanding of synchronization primitives, memory models, and concurrency
- Experience with inter-process communication, including shared memory, sockets, or message queues
- Understanding of system-level programming and performance optimization
Nice to have
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
- Experience with performance profiling and advanced Linux debugging tools
