Senior Software Engineer, AI Tools and Automation

Build and deliver AI-enabled applications, internal tools, integrations, and automation that support the software development lifecycle. Partner with cross-functional teams to identify needs, shape workflows and technical designs, and take solutions from discovery through production and adoption.
Responsibilities
- Work with product managers, architects, R&D, QA, and program managers to understand workflows and identify opportunities for improvement and automation.
- Translate organizational needs into processes, workflows, functional requirements, data models, and technical designs.
- Design, develop, and deploy tools and automation for the full software lifecycle, from feature definition and development through validation, release, and maintenance.
- Apply AI technologies to engineering and operational challenges; select suitable models, frameworks, agents, architectures, and tools.
- Build AI-enabled applications and workflows for information discovery, engineering data access, risk identification, repetitive task automation, and decision support.
- Use AI coding agents and development environments to accelerate prototyping, implementation, testing, debugging, and iteration.
- Develop and customize solutions around Jira and other engineering systems, including workflows, integrations, automation, and reporting.
- Build web tools that combine information from engineering systems, databases, and APIs into useful views.
- Create dashboards and analytics for features, bugs, releases, milestones, dependencies, risks, and execution status; automate recurring workflows and reporting.
- Own solutions from problem discovery and requirements through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, documentation, adoption, and ongoing improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of software development, internal tools, or automation experience; experience in a complex software development environment is preferred.
- Strong hands-on ability to independently build and deliver applications, tools, integrations, and automation.
- Understanding of the end-to-end software development lifecycle, including requirements, architecture, development, QA, bug management, release, and program execution.
- Demonstrated experience evaluating and applying modern AI models, frameworks, APIs, and coding agents in development, and taking AI solutions from concept through evaluation and production.
- Experience with technologies such as Python, JavaScript or TypeScript, SQL, REST APIs, databases, and web technologies.
- Experience integrating multiple systems and data sources using APIs, databases, or automation frameworks.
- Ability to analyze complex workflows, work independently in ambiguous situations, and drive solutions through completion.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on building maintainable, scalable solutions that users adopt.
Nice to have
- Experience with AI-native internal tools, agentic workflows, agent frameworks, knowledge-based architectures, or modern AI coding environments.
- Experience building web applications and interactive data-driven interfaces.
- Experience customizing Jira workflows, APIs, plugins, automation, dashboards, and integrations.
- Experience developing dashboards, analytics, and automated reporting across engineering data sources.
- Experience improving fragmented or manual software development workflows.
