High-ownership role architecting scalable data pipelines, warehouse, and event systems to power AI features, analytics, and experimentation for commerce platform.
Responsibilities
- Architect and build scalable data pipelines processing millions of events daily
- Own data warehouse strategy end-to-end, including reliability, performance, and scalability
- Define event architecture and set standards for data capture and modeling
- Build data quality practices such as monitoring, validation, testing, and alerting
- Partner with Product and Engineering to enable data for AI features, analytics, and experimentation
- Build self-service tooling to empower other teams in querying and analysis
- Set the bar for data modeling, orchestration, and documentation
Requirements
- 5-8+ years of experience in data engineering with end-to-end infrastructure ownership
- Deep experience designing and operating pipelines and warehouse architecture at scale
- Hands-on expertise with Postgres and modern data warehouses (e.g., ClickHouse)
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Temporal)
- Strong TypeScript skills with production-grade, well-tested code
- Experience running services in containerized cloud environments (Kubernetes, AWS)
- Familiarity with in-memory data stores and caching (e.g., Redis)
- Strong instincts for data modeling, event-driven architecture, and data quality
- Pragmatic ownership-driven mindset comfortable with ambiguity
- Ability to translate infrastructure decisions into business impact for stakeholders
Nice to have
- Experience building data infrastructure for AI/ML products
- Background in e-commerce or platforms like Shopify
- Familiarity with experimentation platforms and A/B testing analytics
