Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable, reliable, and secure data infrastructure
- Build ETL pipelines for diverse clinical research data
- Write production SQL and Spark jobs and design evolvable schemas
- Automate releases with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code
- Optimize throughput, latency, and cloud costs at scale
- Own requirements, architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance
- Develop and maintain high-quality, efficient software
- Partner with data scientists, analysts, product managers, regulatory teams, and developers
- Evaluate technologies and frameworks for data projects
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years building data or backend systems with Python or a similar language
- Strong SQL skills and practical schema design experience
- Hands-on experience with data modeling, ETL, streaming, Spark, Kafka, or AWS Kinesis
- Knowledge of lakehouse and warehouse technologies such as Databricks, Delta Lake, Iceberg, Snowflake, or Redshift
- Understanding of distributed systems, microservices, containers, and CI/CD
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CDK, or similar tools
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Ability to own products from ideation through delivery
- Familiarity with agile development
- Clear English communication and effective cross-functional collaboration
Nice to have
- Deep expertise in Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, or DLT
- Knowledge of EHR, HL7, FHIR, or medical imaging data
- Experience in regulated industries
- Experience managing HIPAA or FedRAMP compliance
