Lead a team of malware researchers while remaining hands-on with focused research, emerging threat analysis, and improvements to malware review and identification processes.
Responsibilities
- Manage, recruit, mentor, and train a team of malware researchers.
- Conduct focused malware research under tight timelines.
- Identify and document emerging malware trends.
- Evaluate and improve team accuracy and performance.
- Share knowledge and collaborate across teams and departments.
- Improve malware analysis and review processes.
- Develop automation for malware identification at scale.
Requirements
- At least two years of management experience, including managing at least two employees, recruiting, and training.
- At least three years of experience in malware research, reverse engineering, or penetration testing.
- In-depth SOC or incident response investigations experience.
- Application security experience.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and ability to trace code execution.
- Familiarity with multiple programming languages, including Java, C/C++, JavaScript, and Python.
- Familiarity with static and dynamic analysis tools such as JADX, Frida, and network debuggers.
- Understanding of network communications and protocols.
Nice to have
- Experience managing a team of more than five employees.
- Experience with disassemblers and native debuggers such as Ghidra, IDA Pro, JEB, LLDB, GDB, or x86dbg.
- Proficiency with HTTP debugging, MITM tools, and network analyzers such as Fiddler, HTTP Toolkit, Burp Suite, Wireshark, Little Snitch, or mitmproxy.
- Development experience in Java, Kotlin, Python, JavaScript, or C/C++.
- Familiarity with multiplatform frameworks such as Flutter, React Native, or Unity.
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
