Gameplay Network Programmer — Unreal Engine 5
Join development of an online sci-fi top-down shooter as a gameplay and network programming partner. The project offers equal shares of net sales profits from the game, DLC, and in-game items, with terms set out in a partnership agreement.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop client-server architecture using Unreal Engine listen-server or dedicated-server models.
- Implement replication for movement, shooting, spread, projectiles, hitboxes, and dodges.
- Synchronize networked animations, visual effects, and audio.
- Integrate Steam Online Subsystem features, including lobbies, matchmaking, friend invites, and server lists.
- Implement server-authoritative networked AI for enemies.
- Optimize network traffic, smooth latency, and implement lag compensation.
Requirements
- Confident experience with Unreal Engine 4 or 5 and its networking model, including replication, RPCs, and server-authoritative logic.
- C++ and Blueprint skills; core network code is written in C++.
- Experience building multiplayer mechanics, such as synchronized weapons, health, inventory, or abilities.
- Knowledge of Unreal Online Subsystem or Steamworks API.
- Ability to use Git or Perforce.
