Blue Orange Digital is hiring a senior business intelligence analyst for a fully remote United States role. The position leads client analytics engagements from discovery through adoption, combining advanced SQL, data modeling, dashboard development, consulting, and responsible use of AI tools.
Responsibilities
- Lead client discovery sessions and prioritize business requirements
- Translate ambiguous business questions into data models, dashboards, KPI frameworks, and decision-support tools
- Write production-quality SQL and build trusted analytical models
- Develop and maintain client dashboards and reporting
- Conduct proactive analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities
- Apply AI-assisted analysis, natural-language SQL, agentic exploration, and documentation tools responsibly
- Lead client status updates, demonstrations, working sessions, and stakeholder reviews
- Mentor junior analysts and contribute to analytics playbooks, templates, and internal tooling
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience as a business analyst, data analyst, BI analyst, or analytics consultant
- At least 2 years of client-facing or embedded delivery experience
- Expert SQL skills, including window functions, CTEs, performance tuning, and data validation
- Strong data modeling knowledge, including dimensional modeling, star schemas, snowflake schemas, and dbt or equivalent tools
- Hands-on experience with a cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift
- Hands-on experience with a modern BI platform such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Sigma, or Mode
- Ability to lead requirements workshops, align stakeholders, and manage client conversations
- Working fluency with AI tools for analytical work and sound judgment about their risks and benefits
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Nice to have
- Experience in commercial real estate, financial services, healthcare technology, or insurance
- Python for analytical workflows, including pandas and notebooks
- Experience scoping and pricing analytics work or contributing to statements of work
- Familiarity with data quality, observability, or governance practices
- Prior consulting or agency experience
- Experience with AI-native analytics tools, semantic layers, or AI BI assistants
