Lead an independent research program in archaeology or ancient history while managing the institute’s Palestine branch and regional scientific activities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and publish a research program aligned with the institute’s priority areas.
- Build partnerships with regional and international universities and research institutions.
- Mobilize researchers and institutions from the region and the European Union.
- Seek external funding through philanthropy and competitive research grants.
- Contribute to collective research, training, supervision, publication, editing, and dissemination.
- Organize scientific events and programming in the Palestinian Territories.
- Represent the institute in the Palestinian Territories.
- Coordinate with scientific, administrative, and accounting leadership in Beirut.
- Maintain cooperation with the French Consulate General in Jerusalem.
- Serve as the institute’s local financial administrator.
Requirements
- Doctorate in archaeology or ancient history, including late antiquity, from a French or European higher-education institution or an equivalent recognized foreign degree.
- Research experience in archaeology and ancient history.
- Ability to organize and facilitate scientific networks, conduct independent research, and publish in disciplinary journals.
- Experience seeking French, European, and international research funding.
- French at C2 level if French is not the candidate’s native language.
