Lead the planning and permitting function for an urban renewable energy company developing energy storage projects across Israel. The role combines team leadership, strategic planning, hands-on project management, regulatory coordination, and field problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the planning and permitting team
- Establish departmental standards, processes, and best practices
- Manage permitting and approval processes from information requests through building permits and completion certificates
- Lead strategic projects and cross-functional initiatives while resolving operational obstacles
- Analyze planning and statutory requirements and assess sites for renewable energy and storage projects
- Manage project development and planning budgets
- Coordinate with business development, operations, engineering, projects, interconnection, and management teams
- Lead external consultants, including architects, legal advisers, environmental consultants, and other planning and construction specialists
- Maintain working relationships with planning and building committees, committee engineers, district committees, the Israel Land Authority, and local authorities
- Travel throughout Israel as required
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- At least 3 years of experience managing planning and permitting processes, including securing building permits
- Experience leading, mentoring, and managing teams
- Proven experience working with local authorities, planning committees, and statutory bodies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strategic and systemic thinking with strong attention to detail and organization
- Ability to remove obstacles, shorten timelines, and manage multiple complex processes
Nice to have
- Engineering- or architecture-oriented bachelor's degree
- Experience in renewable energy or energy storage in Israel
