An experienced COBOL Developer is sought for a technology team maintaining and enhancing core business systems for a large organization. The role covers legacy-code development, business-process analysis, troubleshooting, documentation, and end-to-end task ownership.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain high-quality COBOL code.
- Analyze existing code and troubleshoot and resolve bugs.
- Map and understand business processes at the business-module level.
- Document key interfaces.
- Participate in product development processes.
- Lead tasks end to end, from specification through development completion.
- Work independently while collaborating effectively with the team.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of COBOL development experience.
- Significant experience with the AS400 environment.
- Experience preparing technical specifications and designs.
- Strong SQL proficiency.
- Ability to work independently in a computerized environment.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong focus, investigative ability, attention to detail, learning skills, and documentation skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with financial core systems.
- Previous experience in the insurance industry.
- Knowledge of accounting concepts and processes.
- Familiarity with reporting processes and quarterly financial reporting, particularly IFRS.
