A space-industry R&D team seeks an engineer to develop robotics and imaging test setups, integrate hardware, automate data collection, and support laboratory systems.
Responsibilities
- Design experimental setups and automated workflows for robotics and imaging tests.
- Calibrate and integrate robotic actuators, sensors, optical devices, and camera systems.
- Run data collection pipelines and ensure image and motion data are accurate, synchronized, and properly logged.
- Develop scripts for hardware control, image acquisition, and preliminary data processing.
- Maintain lab equipment and troubleshoot hardware-software integration issues.
- Maintain standard operating procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in Python or C++ for automation, hardware interfacing, and data manipulation.
- Understanding of imaging fundamentals, including shutter speed, aperture, and lighting, and of computer vision principles.
- Experience with computer vision or image-processing libraries such as OpenCV and SciPy, or machine-learning solutions.
- Strong technical writing skills in English, attention to detail, and a structured approach to documentation.
Nice to have
- Experience with 3D pose and orientation mathematics, such as quaternions and rotation matrices.
- Experience with Blender or SolidWorks for visualization, simulation, or digital-twin work.
- Background in tracking, SLAM, motion capture, or industrial machine vision.
- Experience scripting tools for build or test pipelines.
