A vision hardware company seeks a hands-on Optical Product Engineer to own optical product lifecycle support, test equipment performance, manufacturing yield, and production optimization from new product introduction through mass production.
Responsibilities
- Own the performance, availability, troubleshooting, calibration, correlation, and capability analysis of optical test and metrology equipment
- Track first-pass and overall manufacturing yield, analyze test data, identify excursions, and implement yield improvements
- Conduct optical, electrical, and mechanical failure analysis to determine production root causes
- Design, execute, and analyze Design of Experiments for product development and engineering changes
- Collaborate with operations, R&D, quality, and test engineering teams on corrective actions, test coverage, and test-time improvements
- Serve as the technical contact for manufacturing partners and resolve production, yield, tester, and process issues
- Support new product introduction transfers, process validation, test readiness, equipment qualification, and production ramp-up
- Improve manufacturing processes and develop automated data collection, analysis, and reporting tools
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electro-Optics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in product engineering, yield analysis, or test engineering
- Strong knowledge of optical systems and testing methodologies
- Experience with data analysis and statistical tools such as JMP, SQL, or Python
- Familiarity with structured problem-solving methods such as 8D and 5-Why
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and hands-on engineering skills
Nice to have
- Experience in high-tech manufacturing, electro-optics, or semiconductor environments
