A software company is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to develop production machine learning solutions for internal business partners. The role combines data science, backend engineering, applied research, and stakeholder collaboration, with ownership from proof of concept through production.
Responsibilities
- Partner with business stakeholders to identify challenges and propose data-driven solutions using machine learning and advanced statistical methods.
- Gather requirements, conduct data research, collaborate cross-functionally, and deliver solutions to production.
- Own the full lifecycle of machine learning models, including monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
- Improve automation pipelines from a data science perspective.
- Prototype RAG systems, agentic processes, knowledge graphs, and other applied research concepts, then productionize successful solutions.
- Contribute to the semantic engine of an organizational knowledge platform and provide technical authority in the area.
- Identify innovation opportunities with measurable business impact.
- Communicate progress and findings effectively while working independently and collaboratively.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in computer science or a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, or economics, with a focus on machine learning.
- At least 5 years of industry experience in data science or machine learning roles.
- Proven experience developing and deploying machine learning models from initiation through production.
- Strong foundations in data science, machine learning, and model evaluation.
- Hands-on proficiency with the Python machine learning and deep learning ecosystem.
- Experience implementing and evaluating custom retrieval-augmented generation systems.
- Expertise in complex agentic workflows, including deep research and large-scale search.
- Proficiency with databases and time-series forecasting.
- Ability to investigate messy or incomplete data and communicate findings clearly.
- Strong independent delivery, collaboration, and stakeholder relationship skills.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
Nice to have
- Experience with applied research, knowledge graphs, or agentic workflows.
- Experience collaborating with distributed or remote teams.
