Lead the Data organization for a growing commerce technology company. Own the technical vision, architecture, and execution of data engineering and infrastructure while leading teams and strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead a lean, high-performing, technical Data organization
- Own the technical vision, architecture, and execution for Data Engineering and Data Infrastructure
- Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team
- Guide architectural decisions, review designs, and drive execution on critical initiatives
- Deliver scalable data products and platforms with cross-functional stakeholders
- Modernize the data ecosystem using established technologies, AI, automation, and modern platforms
- Lead infrastructure, platform, and investment initiatives focused on scalability, reliability, and efficiency
- Promote data engineering, platform reliability, observability, and operational excellence practices
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms, data infrastructure, or related technical fields
- 3+ years of engineering leadership experience, including direct people management and strategic technical ownership
- Expertise designing, building, and operating large-scale data platforms and distributed systems
- Strong understanding of data warehouses, data lakes, pipelines, orchestration frameworks, and cloud platforms
- Experience guiding technical direction while participating in architecture and implementation discussions
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams across data engineering, infrastructure, or platform engineering
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives in complex environments
- Interest in AI, automation, and the evolution of data platforms
Nice to have
- Experience with AI, generative AI, large language model tools, or AI-assisted development workflows
- Experience leading organizational or operational transformations in data teams
- Background in high-growth B2B SaaS companies
- Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Airflow, Kafka, dbt, or similar tools
- Familiarity with DataOps, platform engineering, infrastructure automation, and observability
- Experience supporting Finance, Customer Support, Revenue Operations, go-to-market, or Business Intelligence functions
