Lead the system assurance and RAMS programme for a high-speed railway project, ensuring safety, reliability, availability, maintainability, and regulatory compliance throughout the system lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Lead the overall system assurance and RAMS function across the high-speed rail programme
- Own the RAMS Plan and maintain the Programme Hazard Log in accordance with applicable railway standards
- Manage the system safety lifecycle from concept through acceptance
- Chair the Safety Review Board and lead hazard identification and close-out activities
- Develop and maintain the RAM model and target allocation
- Prepare the Technical Safety Case
- Interface with the Ministry of Transport and Independent Safety Assessor
- Coordinate safety assurance with engineering, interface management, systems integration, and HSSE teams
- Promote safety-by-design and ensure regulatory and assurance compliance
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, systems engineering, safety engineering, railway engineering, or a related discipline
- At least 10 years of experience in RAMS, system assurance, safety engineering, or systems engineering
- Experience implementing RAMS programmes under EN 50126, EN 50128, and EN 50129
- Experience managing hazard identification, hazard logs, safety review boards, risk assessments, and hazard close-out
- Knowledge of reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety modelling and target allocation
- Experience preparing Technical Safety Cases and coordinating with Independent Safety Assessors, regulators, and certification bodies
- Experience with safety-by-design, railway system integration, verification and validation, and lifecycle assurance
- Strong analytical, strategic planning, stakeholder management, communication, and coordination skills
- Ability to develop risk mitigation strategies and manage technical risks
Nice to have
- Experience with Common Safety Method and TSI requirements
- Background with a PMC, systems integrator, owner’s engineer, railway operator, infrastructure manager, or consultancy
- Experience in large-scale railway or complex infrastructure programmes
