Nova is hiring an R&D Application Metrology Scientist to own application development across the product life cycle for semiconductor dimensional metrology solutions. The role combines advanced metrology expertise, analytical problem-solving, customer engagement, and collaboration with R&D, Marketing
Responsibilities
- Build technical relationships with customers worldwide and identify semiconductor process metrology challenges.
- Define application, hardware, algorithm, and technology requirements for new product development.
- Develop metrology methodologies, simulations, and application benefits for in-line process control.
- Translate customer challenges into application requirements and technical specifications.
- Collaborate with R&D to define and validate algorithms, methodologies, and future technology capabilities.
- Define test plans, lead Alpha evaluations and wafer demonstrations, and support product verification.
- Lead first-customer Beta evaluations, gather feedback, and drive product and application improvements.
- Define tool specifications, performance monitors, and acceptance criteria.
- Support technical positioning, demonstrations, application content, and marketing materials.
- Train and guide global Field Application Engineers on applications, methodologies, and best practices.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Physics, Materials Science, Electronics, Optics, or a related technical discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in semiconductor metrology, process engineering, or advanced applications development.
- Strong knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and process control.
- Experience with OCD, Raman, scatterometry, spectroscopy, or related metrology technologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-analysis capabilities.
- Experience working directly with customers and collaborating across R&D, Marketing, Product Management, and Applications.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and technical documentation skills.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
Nice to have
- Ph.D. in a relevant technical discipline.
- Experience leading Alpha or Beta evaluations for semiconductor equipment or metrology solutions.
- Experience developing metrology methodologies, simulations, application benefits, or performance monitors.
- Experience with algorithm validation, advanced process control, or multidisciplinary product development.
- Experience training global Field Application Engineers or supporting customer demonstrations.
