NPI Procurement Specialist
Lead procurement from product development through volume production, partnering with engineering, operations, quality, planning, and global suppliers to ensure readiness, resilience, and commercial performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead procurement and supplier engagement from early development through production ramp-up.
- Ensure material and supplier readiness for prototypes, qualification, and manufacturing launch; track actions, owners, risks, and milestones.
- Source, evaluate, select, and onboard suppliers; lead RFQs and build strategic supplier partnerships.
- Identify supply risks and develop alternative sourcing, contingency, and continuity plans.
- Partner with R&D and engineering on supplier readiness, qualification changes, and transition to volume production.
- Support released products and engineering changes, including supplier qualification, substitutions, redesign, and obsolescence resolution.
- Negotiate with suppliers, finalize contracts, and drive cost reduction and design-to-cost while balancing technical and supply requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain, or NPI purchasing in high-level assembly.
- Experience managing suppliers in new product development programs.
- Knowledge of NPI, product lifecycle management, supplier qualification, sourcing, and supply risk.
- Ability to interpret bills of materials, engineering changes, specifications, product architectures, and manufacturing technologies.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and project management skills.
Nice to have
- Experience in semiconductors, electronics, electromechanical products, or capital equipment.
- SAP experience.
