Responsibilities

  • Define security architecture for networking firmware, including trust boundaries, privilege separation, device identity, key storage, secure boot, and secure updates.
  • Threat-model firmware and embedded subsystems and analyze hardware–firmware interactions for security weaknesses.
  • Define lifecycle security features and mitigations, and guide engineering teams through implementation.
  • Translate threat models into security requirements and architectural decisions; review designs and implementations.
  • Work with hardware and ASIC architects to specify security primitives and their use across products.
  • Promote secure firmware development practices, including memory-safe C patterns, static analysis, and fuzzing, and support adherence to security and coding standards.

Requirements

  • Degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in product security, firmware security, or security research, including hands-on work with embedded or firmware codebases.
  • Experience defining security policy models, including authorization schemes, role-based access control, and administrative role separation.
  • Knowledge of applied cryptography, secure boot, code signing, attestation, threat modeling, attack vectors, and mitigations.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or doctorate in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with networking-device hardware and firmware interfaces, hardware roots of trust, and hardware-enforced isolation.
