Security Research Manager – Cloud and Kubernetes

Lead a security research team focused on detecting and responding to attacks across cloud, Kubernetes, container, and hybrid environments. Define research strategy, detection use cases, datasets, and analytical approaches while partnering with engineering, product, and go-to-market teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage, mentor, and grow a team of security researchers.
- Lead research into attacks targeting cloud data, Kubernetes, containers, and hybrid environments.
- Set the strategy and execution plan for research initiatives addressing sophisticated attacks.
- Define and prioritize detection use cases, datasets, and analytical approaches.
- Track attacker methodologies, APT campaigns, and tactics, techniques, and procedures.
- Oversee real-world attack simulations and behavioral analysis to validate detection content.
- Collaborate with engineering, product management, and go-to-market teams.
- Represent the team through security community blogs, conference talks, and publications.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of leadership or management experience, including mentoring researchers and setting research strategy.
- At least 5 years of security research experience with a record of delivering impactful projects.
- Deep expertise in cloud-native security, particularly Kubernetes, containers, and major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI.
- Experience with detection and response products such as XDR, EDR, or cloud workload protection platforms.
- Hands-on coding and scripting proficiency, such as Python.
- Experience with large-scale data pipelines and analytics, including BigQuery or Dataflow.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining complex research and aligning cross-functional teams.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Kubernetes threat modeling frameworks, including MITRE ATT&CK for Containers.
