An engineering company is seeking a Staff Hardware Engineer to develop and support evaluation platforms for optical DSP, active electrical cable, and optical transceiver solutions used in AI and cloud infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Own evaluation-board development from specification through validation.
- Create hardware specifications, design documents, schematics, PCB layout requirements, assembly guidelines, and validation plans.
- Lead first-power-on, hardware bring-up, debugging, system characterization, and reliability testing.
- Perform root-cause analysis and drive corrective actions for hardware issues.
- Analyze signal integrity and power integrity for high-speed DSP and optical products.
- Design and optimize power delivery networks, including ripple, transient response, decoupling, and power distribution performance.
- Review customer schematics and PCB layouts for optical transceiver and active electrical cable integrations.
- Support customer hardware teams during design, bring-up, qualification, and deployment.
- Serve as the primary hardware liaison for application-engineering activities and internal engineering teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, science, engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in high-speed hardware development, PCB design for high-speed SerDes, or optical transceiver design; alternative degree-based qualification paths may apply.
- Strong experience with schematic capture, PCB design reviews, and hardware development processes.
- Knowledge of high-speed PAM4 signaling, SerDes systems, signal integrity, channel analysis, power integrity, and power delivery networks.
- Hands-on experience with evaluation-board design, bring-up, validation, debugging, and laboratory equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Excellent communication and technical documentation skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with signal-integrity simulation tools such as HFSS.
- Experience designing optical transceivers.
- Knowledge of thermal analysis and mechanical integration.
- Knowledge of PCB stack-up design and high-speed materials.
- Experience with manufacturing qualification and production support.
