Software Engineering Team Lead
Lead a cross-functional platform engineering team building and scaling an end-to-end developer platform for data scientists. The role combines technical leadership with hands-on development across DataOps, MLOps, cloud infrastructure, and internal tools.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and support a cross-functional software engineering team through sprint planning, technical roadmapping, and delivery.
- Set engineering practices for code quality, testing, architectural patterns, and code reviews across backend, frontend, and infrastructure codebases.
- Collaborate with data scientists on the technical vision and system design for an internal Data and MLOps platform.
- Develop production Python services and orchestrate complex data processing workflows.
- Build platform tools supporting data preprocessing, indexing, experiment tracking, and model lifecycle management.
- Design and provision cloud environments on GCP.
- Guide development of web applications and internal tools using React, Node.js, and TypeScript.
- Integrate with large-scale data warehouses for querying and analytical processing.
Requirements
- Strong production Python development experience, including asynchronous processing and API design.
- Experience designing schemas, optimizing queries, and managing relational and NoSQL databases.
- Deep experience with Apache Airflow and BigQuery or comparable data warehouses such as Snowflake or Redshift.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and container orchestration platforms.
- Experience architecting cloud solutions using infrastructure as code.
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines.
- Working knowledge of Node.js, React, and TypeScript.
Nice to have
- Experience building developer-facing platforms, internal tools, or infrastructure for data science, AI, or machine learning teams.
- Familiarity with open-source MLOps tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, Weights & Biases, or feature stores.
- Deep understanding of database indexing, query optimization, and distributed data processing.
