A cybersecurity company is seeking a senior software engineer to develop and improve a production Python detection engine processing large-scale cloud, SaaS, and identity data. The role is based in Tel Aviv with a hybrid work arrangement and involves close collaboration with cyber investigators.
Responsibilities
- Harden, refactor, and extend a large production Python codebase
- Design modules and APIs, improve typing, and expand test coverage
- Own and optimize PySpark workflows processing large security datasets across multiple cloud environments
- Design data models and queries and resolve performance issues
- Translate attacker behavior into production-ready detection logic with cyber investigators
- Use AI coding agents and develop agentic workflows and LLM-backed services
- Contribute to code reviews, CI practices, engineering standards, and architectural decisions
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional Python development experience
- Experience with typing, refactoring existing code, module and API design, pytest, packaging, and code review
- Hands-on SQL experience, including schema design and query optimization
- Practical experience delivering software using large language models
- Knowledge of prompt design, structured outputs, multi-step or agentic workflows, and testing nondeterministic behavior
- Fluency with Git and continuous integration
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment
- Strong ownership, adaptability, and collaboration skills
Nice to have
- AWS experience, including S3, IAM, compute, or Bedrock
- Workflow automation or agent platforms such as n8n, LangGraph, or Temporal
- MCP servers or tool-calling integrations
- Experience with both Spark and Kafka
- Security, detection engineering, or SIEM background
