Lead a team of six engineers building and operating complex, scalable platform systems for AI-powered software security. Own technical direction, architecture, delivery, and engineer development while remaining hands-on in the code.
Responsibilities
- Own the team's technical direction and the quality of its deliverables.
- Lead architecture and design for complex, multi-component platform systems.
- Design and deliver LLM-powered capabilities, including agent architectures, evaluation, guardrails, and production trade-offs.
- Participate in the team's on-call rotation and use operational feedback to improve system design.
- Turn ambiguous, large-scale problems into concrete, shippable plans and manage scope for predictable delivery.
- Develop engineers through code review, mentorship, and direct feedback.
- Establish practical, AI-first engineering practices for the team.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including shipping and operating production systems at a commercial product company.
- At least 2 years leading major projects or mentoring engineers, formally or informally.
- Demonstrated independent technical leadership, including system architecture, design documentation, and delivery from concept to production.
- Hands-on experience operating high-scale production systems with performance, reliability, and cost considerations.
- Strong proficiency in a modern backend language and ability to work across the stack, including a modern frontend framework.
- Experience building with large language models and using AI tooling in software development, including agent architectures, evaluation, failure analysis, and responsible product design.
Nice to have
- Experience running services on Kubernetes in a major cloud environment.
- Startup experience as a founder, core engineer, or first technical lead.
- Experience building security products.
