A well-funded, early-stage startup is seeking a Backend Engineer to join the founding team. The role focuses on designing, developing, and deploying autonomous AI agents that automate complex enterprise workflows, leveraging large language models and cloud infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop autonomous AI agents using large language models for tasks like document processing, data extraction, and workflow management.
- Implement reinforcement learning techniques to enhance AI agent decision-making.
- Build and integrate APIs connecting AI agents with external systems and enterprise software (ERP, CRM).
- Use frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Hugging Face to deploy and optimize AI models for real-time processing.
- Design and manage data pipelines for processing large volumes of documents and unstructured data.
- Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms, ensuring compliance with data privacy standards (GDPR, HIPAA).
- Deploy AI agents on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) using containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) for scalability and reliability.
- Develop and execute unit, integration, and performance tests; monitor and optimize system performance.
- Collaborate with AI researchers, frontend engineers, and product teams; participate in code reviews and architecture planning.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on AI-driven or autonomous systems.
- Proven track record of deploying AI models or agents in production environments.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Proficiency in SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (Document DB, Vector DB).
- Experience deploying large-scale production applications on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Understanding of OAuth2, JWT, and security best practices.
Nice to have
- Experience with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Hugging Face.
- Experience with Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools.
- Familiarity with graph databases (Neo4j) for managing complex workflows.
- Familiarity with Go and Rust.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
