Operations Research Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Operations Research Engineer to lead performance analysis and simulation for advanced electro-optical systems. You will define system requirements, support experiments, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Requires 3+ years experience and proficiency in MATLAB/Python.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain end-to-end simulations of electro-optical systems, including sensor models, optics, atmosphere, tracking, and stabilization.
- Conduct system performance analysis, including detection/identification probabilities, range performance, noise, and line-of-sight stability, with sensitivity analysis.
- Define KPIs for lab and field experiments, analyze experimental data, and validate against theoretical models.
- Translate customer needs and operational missions into engineering requirements, leading trade-off analyses.
- Collaborate closely with system architects, optics engineers, vision/AI algorithm developers, and hardware/software teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Physics, Electro-Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering (optics/signals), or Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering with strong analytical background.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in operations research, system engineering, or modeling of electro-optical systems.
- Deep familiarity with electro-optical system physics: detector models, optics, atmospheric transfer (MODTRAN/LOWTRAN), and basic image processing.
- Proven experience developing mathematical models and simulations in MATLAB or Python.
Nice to have
- Advanced degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) is a significant advantage.
- Familiarity with inertial navigation systems (INS) or sensor fusion.
- Experience with dedicated simulation software (NV-IPM, TRM4, or tactical environment simulators).
