Hands-on CTO to take full ownership of a last-mile delivery technology platform. You will lead architecture, write production code, manage infrastructure, and build the engineering team. Work closely with founders to translate business challenges into technology solutions.
Responsibilities
- Own the platform architecture, backend services, web applications, cloud infrastructure, databases, and integrations
- Write production code across Java/Spring Boot, PHP, and Angular/TypeScript
- Design and operate scalable APIs and distributed systems handling high-throughput real-time deliveries
- Manage AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, MySQL, and production reliability
- Lead incident response, security, performance optimization, and monitoring
- Set engineering standards for code quality, testing, documentation, and observability
- Define technical roadmap and architectural decisions as the company scales
- Build and lead the engineering team, including hiring and establishing practices
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building and operating production software systems
- Strong hands-on backend experience in Java/Spring Boot or PHP
- Strong experience with Angular/TypeScript and modern web applications
- Deep production experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD
- Strong MySQL and SQL knowledge, including indexing and query optimization
- Experience designing and operating scalable APIs and distributed systems
- Strong understanding of production reliability, monitoring, security, and performance
- Ability to lead engineers while remaining deeply technical and hands-on
Nice to have
- Experience in logistics, last-mile delivery, marketplaces, or mobility
- Experience with real-time dispatching, assignment, routing, or optimization systems
- Geospatial systems experience
- Native Android or iOS development experience
- Infrastructure-as-code experience
- Experience scaling an engineering organization from a small core team
