As a Backend Quality Engineer, you will ensure the stability and correctness of our core backend platform by analyzing system behavior, debugging across microservices, and creating AI-accelerated automated tests. You will collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to maintain production-ready systems, using tools like Jest, gRPC, and SQL to validate complex backend flows and drive quality improvement.
Responsibilities
- Reproduce, analyze, and debug complex backend issues across microservices.
- Identify root causes and validate defect fixes with no regressions.
- Develop and maintain automated test suites for REST and gRPC APIs.
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate test creation, log analysis, and debugging.
- Analyze system architecture and data flows to plan testing strategies.
- Collaborate with DevOps, IT, and SaaSOps on infrastructure-related quality concerns.
- Improve test reliability, coverage, and internal testing tools.
Requirements
- 3+ years in backend QA, automation, or systems analysis.
- Strong analytical and root-cause analysis skills.
- Experience testing backend APIs using tools like Postman, gRPCurl, JMeter.
- Proficiency with JavaScript/TypeScript test frameworks (Jest, Cucumber.js).
- Daily usage of AI tools for testing and debugging (Copilot, Cursor, etc.).
- Ability to interpret backend logs and architecture diagrams.
- SQL skills for data validation and debugging.
- Strong communication and collaboration with DevOps/IT.
- Fluent English.
Nice to have
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (Datadog).
- Experience debugging enterprise-grade backend systems.
- Scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Bash).
- Experience with microservices architectures.
