Own the full technology function for a wellness device startup. Lead embedded hardware, firmware, and integration. Define hardware architecture, design electronics, manage BLE connectivity, power management, testing, and manufacturing. Hands-on role with technical leadership, working directly with the CEO.
Responsibilities
- Own the hardware architecture across all current and future products
- Design, build, and validate embedded electronics
- Define and own the hardware-firmware interface with the software team
- Provide technical direction to software and industrial design teams
- Own hardware acceptance testing, validation protocols, and pre-deployment burn-in
- Manage component sourcing, BOMs, and manufacturing coordination
- Lead the full technological roadmap
- Manage external specialist teams
Requirements
- Embedded systems engineering depth with shipped firmware on ESP32 or equivalent microcontrollers
- BLE proficiency including GATT, connection management, multi-peripheral coordination, and iOS BLE stack
- Power electronics fundamentals with DC/DC converters, protection circuits, and load analysis
- Analog electronics experience with amplifier circuits, signal integrity, and electromechanical load driving
- Firmware development in C/C++ for ESP-IDF and/or Arduino framework
- Builder's mindset with ability to prototype, test, and iterate under ambiguity
- Startup experience with end-to-end ownership of outcomes
Nice to have
- Haptic or audio hardware experience, including transducer coupling and electromechanical systems
