Seeking a Senior Thermal Design & Equipment Engineer to own thermal/mechanical design of test equipment. Perform CFD simulations, validate designs, and collaborate with ODMs/OSATs. Mentor engineers and drive process improvements. Requires 5+ years experience in thermal design and simulation.
Responsibilities
- Own thermal and mechanical design of test equipment from concept through production, including heat sink/cold plate design, TIM selection, fan selection, and airflow/liquid-flow architecture.
- Perform thermal simulations using CFD tools and validate against real-world data.
- Develop and execute thermal validation test plans; debug thermal failures during bring-up and qualification.
- Collaborate with ODMs, OSATs, and internal teams to drive hardware from prototype to mass production.
- Mentor junior engineers and lead process improvement initiatives.
- Author technical documentation on design decisions and validation results.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in thermal and mechanical design.
- 5+ years of experience with thermal simulation (CFD tools like Flotherm, ANSYS Icepak).
Nice to have
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 7+ years in thermal/mechanical design of actively controlled thermal solutions.
- Experience with design of optical testing solutions for semiconductors.
- Experience with interdisciplinary teams from concept to production.
- Experience developing and mentoring engineers; leading process improvements.
- Strong written communication skills for conveying technical decisions.
