Senior Embedded Software Engineer
Serve as the technical lead for embedded software on a safety-critical robotic platform for ophthalmic surgery. Design and develop real-time software, make technical decisions, own feature delivery, and remain hands-on with complex C/C++ components.
Responsibilities
- Lead the embedded team technically and guide design decisions.
- Mentor peers through code reviews without direct people management.
- Design and develop real-time embedded software.
- Own feature delivery from development through completion.
- Develop complex and safety-critical C/C++ components.
- Maintain code quality through reviews, best practices, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on technical alignment and progress.
- Make independent technical decisions and involve the wider team when appropriate.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of hands-on embedded software development experience in C/C++.
- Experience leading features and providing technical direction as an individual contributor.
- Experience with real-time embedded and bare-metal environments.
- Experience designing, developing, and troubleshooting software on embedded targets.
- Familiarity with TCP, UDP, I2C, UART, RS232, and SPI communication protocols.
- Strong technical decision-making, communication, collaboration, and product ownership skills.
- Strong AI-assisted development skills for coding, testing, quality improvement, and team adoption.
- Fluent English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with safety-critical or regulated software, including medical devices or IEC 62304.
- Experience with RTOS, motion control, robotics, or real-time control systems.
- Familiarity with EtherCAT, CAN, or other industrial and fieldbus protocols.
- Hebrew language skills.
